Button Fastenings – an evening sewing workshop in our fabulous fabric shop in Bridport, Dorset. Workshops run Thursday evenings from 7-9pm in the dressmaking room. Learn all about buttons, buttonholes and rouleau loops – more details in the additional information tab. Check the date below and book! Workshop: Buttons

Sewing workshop on button fastenings - Learn all about buttons, buttonholes and loops at one of our series of evening sewing workshops.  Learn on your own machine and be sew confident at home. Book onto our evening sewing classes in the best fabric shop in Bridport, Dorset! Our sewing classes run on a Thursday evening. Our sewing workshops are suitable for beginners or more experienced sewers unless otherwise noted. Buttons, Buttonholes and Loops is a short, focused workshop designed to get you confident at dressmaking on your own machine.

Sewing workshop: Button Fastenings

What you'll learn: This course on buttons, buttonholes and loops covers everything you need to know to be confident with buttons and buttonholes. You'll cover how to choose buttons and the best way to sew them on. Learn how to make buttonholes and all about rouleau loops. The courses run in our fabulously funky Aladdin's cave of a shop in Bridport, Dorset. Small class sizes (usually a maximum of 6) means you can sew in a comfortable, sociable group. This course can cover:
  • How to choose the right button
  • The best way to sew on a button
  • Making buttonholes
  • Using rouleau loops

What to bring to your class on button fastenings

You'll need to bring your own sewing machine to the workshop. We decided to do this because it means you'll learn to sew on the machine you'll be using at home, so you'll be totally confident that you (and your machine) can use your new skills for your next project. You'll also need a basic sewing kit, which you'll also need to do your best sewing at home! Bring what you use at home, and remember we stock a huge range of sewing tools, both in our shop in Bridport and online. You'll need to bring the following sewing kit:

Our classes run in the dressmaking room of our fabulous fabric shop in Bridport, Dorset. Classes run in the evening after the shop has closed, so you can learn and sew in peace, but the shop is available for browsing (and buying!) before the classes start. Our teacher is the lovely Lynn Horniblow. Lynn is a highly experienced teacher and seamstress who trained on Saville Row and went on to teach and write courses in numerous colleges and summer schools. We chose her to teach our Bridport sewing classes  because she's incredibly knowledgeable, practical and patient, and we know you'll love her too!
