They are good to use, work for left or right handed people, and are brilliant value for simple projects.
Also new are the ornate and delicately-coloured thread snips, which are perfect for a discerning needleworker, and they’re just so beautiful! we were all cooing over them as soon as they arrived in the shop, so you know they’ll be well-received as a gift.
And finally we do a great range of Fiskars, which are great quality dressmaking, pinking and needlework scissors, guaranteed to stand the test of time; as an added bonus we offer a sharpening service for them in store, so you or your loved one will never have to struggle with blunt scissors again.

We have a vast roll stock for you to choose from and give it free samples to make colour matching selection in your home easier and if you really can’t find anything there, you can browse our beautiful books and inspiring hangers and we’ll order your chosen fabric in for you. Seasons is a beautiful fabric range from Prestigious Textiles, it illustrates the beauty of natural all year round, depicted on a series of beautifully printed cotton fabric. This series comprises of 6 different design each available in 4 or 5 different colourways.
The beautiful birdsong comes in 6 different colourways, Orchid, Willow, Jewel, Sapphie, Larkspur, and Shadow. Each are 137cm wide and have a virtical pattern repeat of 64cm and a horizontal pattern prepeat of 34cm. Each colourways depicks a beautiful bird on a branch with flowers and leaves. Each colourway gives the fabric design a different season feeling to the design.
Kew is another very floral design with this design only focusing on the leaves and flowers within nature. Like the design Birdsong, Kew composes of a large range of colours, with each design being the same expect for its colour. Each colourway has a different effect to the overall design of the fabric, and for the final rooms that the user might want to use the fabric it. With each colourway a different element of the design is highlighted. Just like Birdsong this fabric is 137cm wide and have a vertical pettern repeat of 64cm and a horizontal pattern repeat of 34cm.
SEASON- SILVER BIRCH
Silver birch is a beatiful watercolour artist design that illistrates the beaty of the forest and nature. This design has an illution of depth in all colourways although some produce this illustion better than others. This fabric would suit curtains, blinds and cusions or by making it a centre oiece and framing or stretching it. This fabric is 137cm wide with a virtical pattern repeat of 64cm and a horizonal pattern repeat of 68cm.
SEASONS- CHERRY BLOSSOM
Another beautiful design in this range from presitigious textiles. A simple yet effective design of cherry blosson in a range of different colourways. This is a simplier more modern design than the others in this collection.

Whether its luxury copper velvet, stitched embroidery or ribbon embroidery that takes your fancy, we have some gorgeous fabrics to cosy up your windows. The ribbon embroidery is worked on a deep chocolate brown faux suede while the stitched seed heads are created from autumn shades of satin on a soft stone cotton blend. Both would look fabulous draped at the window and the copper velvet can be used for upholstering a chair or a cushion to complement the other fabrics. The velvet is also wide enough to make into curtains for a more minimalist look. Exclusively available in our Bridport shop.
Machine embroidery is creative process used to create pictures, baskets, cushions bags and all manner of sewn items.
In this 5 week course you will explore lots of different techniques that can be used develop your machine embroidery skills. Learn how to use applique, how to use disolvable fabric to create lace, experiment with stitch lengths, shading and colours. Machine embroidery is colourful and textural and you will have the opportunity to use a wide range of materials including organza, silk papers, satins and cottons.
For this course you will need to competent in using a sewing machine. Your machine must have feed dogs that can be lowered.
For the first lesson of this course you will need the following:-
Sewing machine in full working order with instruction manual and all of its sewing machine feet.
Basic sewing kit to include: dressmaking scissors, unpicker, pins, spare sewing machine needles, hand sewing needles, tailors chalk and a tape measure, ruler
An A4 book or ring binder with plastic wallets that you can keep a record of sewing techniques and samples
A free motion machine embroidery foot
A wooden embroidery hoop approx 18cm diametre
1/2 metre of medium weight calico
Assorted threads (machine embroidery uses a lot of thread, so bring a good selection of colours with you. You may also wish to use metallic threads)
