Adding Pockets – an evening sewing workshop in our fabulous fabric shop in Bridport, Dorset. Workshops run Thursday evenings from 7-9pm in the dressmaking room. Our sewing classes run on a Thursday evening. All about pockets is a short, focussed workshop designed to help you be a confident dressmaker on your own machine.
Sewing workshop: Adding Pockets
What you'll learn: This course is all about adding pockets to a garment. You'll look at different types of pockets, how and where to add them to garments, and how to get a great finish. The courses run in our fabulously funky Aladdin's cave of a shop in Bridport, Dorset. Small class sizes (usually a maximum of 6) means you can sew in a comfortable, sociable group. This course can cover:- All about different types of pockets
- How to position and fit pockets
- How to sew pockets into a garment
- How to add pockets
What to bring to your class on pockets
You'll need to bring your own sewing machine to the workshop. We decided to do this because it means you'll learn to sew on the machine you'll be using at home, so you'll be totally confident that you (and your machine) can use your new skills for your next project. You'll also need a basic sewing kit, which you'll also need to do your best sewing at home! Bring what you use at home, and remember we stock a huge range of sewing tools, both in our shop in Bridport and online. You'll need to bring the following sewing kit:- Sharp sewing scissors
- Hand sewing needles
- Machine sewing needles
- A quick unpick
- A tape measure
- Sharp dressmaking pins
- Tailor's chalk
Sewing class in Bridport
Our classes run in the dressmaking room of our fabulous fabric shop in Bridport, Dorset. Classes run in the evening after the shop has closed, so you can learn and sew in peace, but the shop is available for browsing (and buying!) before the classes start. Our teacher is the lovely Lynne Horniblow. Lynne is a highly experienced teacher and seamstress who trained on Saville Row and went on to teach and write courses in numerous colleges and summer schools. We chose her to teach our Bridport sewing classes because she's incredibly knowledgeable, practical and patient, and we know you'll love her too!
