How to sew viscose fabricViscose is a semi-synthetic material, also known as rayon. This lovely gingko leaf fabric is manufactured from pulp harvested from fast-growing trees such as eucalyptus, beech, and pine, as well as plants such as bamboo, soy, and sugar cane. Because viscose is a soft, draping fabric, here's a few tips for sewing viscose that will help you get a better result with this lovely dressmaking fabric!
- Put a new needle in your machine! Because viscose is soft and slinky, a new needle will help it behave better when you're sewing. Choose a needle suitable for lightweight fabrics - look for a needle with a lower number, like 75/11 or 70/10.
- Use sharp new pins to pin in place. Viscose is slippery, so use your sharp new pins to keep the paper pattern pieces in place.
- Tacking or stay -stitching before you sew your project together might feel like a faff but would help stop the fabric sliding out of place as you sew.
How to use Gingko leaf viscose fabricBecause it is a light fabric that drapes beautifully, viscose is great substitute for a more expensive cotton lawn. Our viscose fabric is a high-quality viscose fabric which has a very similar feel to lawn, and can be treated in the same way has a very perfect for projects like:

Some fabrics are also on sale in our shop in Bridport, Dorset, so on rare occasions stock may not be available where it appears to be online. We do our best to avoid this and many fabrics can be reordered, again if this occurs we will contact you to discuss the options.
To keep your lovely new fabrics in the best condition we recommend checking out the Product Info for details on how to care for them. Washable fabrics should always be hand washed, before cutting and making your projects, in order to allow for shrinkage.
