Will snow affect us?

Due to the very cold weather and the threat of snow coming in, there is a possibility that this may affect the opening of our Yeovil shop…. that is if the white stuff falls and settles! If this is the case, or you are unsure, then we recommend that you phone the Yeovil shop on 01935 422631 before setting out to ensure that we are open and that you don’t waste a journey.

Our Bridport shop should remain unaffected, however, if the weather is really bad then please do feel free to call 01308 456844 to ensure we are open.

Keep warm and wrapped up everyone!

Valentines Day Fabrics

Valentines Day (14th February)… a day to celebrate love is fast approaching.

Miss Haversham is ready to be wined and dined in her lovely red dress that has been decorated with mother of pearl heart buttons.  We have a great range of Poly Satins suitable for wedding attire and evening wear in many colours.  Come in to the shop and see our great collection of red fabrics suitable for both dress making, curtains and blinds.

We also have a number of fabrics that feature pretty hearts suitable for dressmaking and cushions.  This fleece is supersoft and would make a really warm fleece top….or you could easily turn it into an envelope cushion by following the simple instructions available in our Envelope Cushion Kit.  If you don’t fancy tackling it alone, you can come along to our class where we will teach you, step by step how to make one and have it ready to take home.  Follow the link and go to the bottom of the page to find details on how to book on to our next course.

Newsletter May 2012

Hello and welcome to our first newsletter of 2012 – how did it get to be May already?

Of course, like you, we’ve been busy here at Livingstone Textiles, so I thought I would update you on some of the things we have been working on to make our business work better for you.

First of all, I’m pleased to report that after a very long process it looks like we have approval from the listed building officer for installation of a stair lift on the front stairs. This will be available for public use once it is fitted, which we hope will make access easier. There will still be around 4 stairs to negotiate at the top of the stairlift, but we hope it will go some way to helping our customers get up to the first floor.

Secondly, we’ve been expanding our offering of craft fabrics as you can see here. We also have a good range of plain cottons and also wadding for quilting. This is a new area for us, so we’re always pleased to hear what you might be looking for to help us develop in the future.

Last, but not least, we’re making progress on our plan to start holding classes and workshops. This picture is of the table in what will become our teaching area. As you can see the industrial nature of the building is ever-present, but we’re hoping to make this into a welcoming space none-the less. Attendees will all be able to sit round the large table, giving a friendly atmosphere. We’re planning both weekly general classes and weekend workshops on specific topics such as ‘Learn to Love your Sewing Machine’, so do get in touch if you might be interested.

For our customers who are further away, please remember that we are always happy to send out samples, so if there is something particular you are after do give us a ring or drop us an email and we will do our best to help.
