We have acquired some very beautiful fabric. ” But you’re always doing that” I hear you say. True enough and our fabric stash is pretty vast, so big that it now takes up two whole shops! The thing is, sometimes a little stash comes along that we just cannot do without and we just have to squeeze it in somewhere.
This month we are bringing you something unique. One offs.
And there they are. Absolutely beautiful hand block printed cottons from India.
Representing the individual nature of handmade, each is a short run of 6 or 8 metres or so and created with Indigo and Rust dyes.
These really are very special and as such we are not selling them in anything smaller than 2 metre pieces. Each run has been individually inspected by us to ensure clean line up of the block print with no overlaps.
Don’t hang about because the best designs will be flying out quickly and once they’re gone they’re gone.
This glorious velvet is settling happily on our velvet shelf but we don’t think it will be around for long.
The rich splashes of colour are as enchanting as a Monet painting but that not all. This glorious fabric has the feel of the softest kitten fur. In fact, we don’t just stroke it each time we pass it by, we have been spotted giving it a hug too.
Come into the shop and have a feel for yourself, nothing like seeing the real thing before you buy and kluckily for you guys we have a roll in each of our stores 🙂
Don’t forget that Livingstone Textiles stock hundreds of fabrics on the roll for you to chose from. Fabric is one of those products that you really need to feel before you buy and our huge selection means you can usually find something to take away that day. Two weeks before Christmas a customer popped in to the shop and chose one of our semi plains off the roll and we were able to make her blind and cover her baton in time for Christmas.
If you really can’t find anything amongst our stock, we can order from any of our suppliers and most deliver to us within a week, some in just a day! Just ask us when ordering and we’ll do everything we can to get your fabric as quickly as possible and if you really can’t get to us then we’ll happily send you samples of anything in stock, just ask and we’ll try to match you with your ideal fabric.
An absolutely beautiful range of subtle designs from Bill Beaumont in soft muted colours. The stripe effect is called Jordaan and the leaf spray is called Lars. With a pattern repeat of only 33.5cm and a useable width of 140cm there is plenty of cloth for your money. Contact us for further details and prices.
This gorgeous two-way sequin fabric is new into both Livingstone Textiles Bridport and Livingstone Textiles Yeovil and just in time for Christmas!
This fabric can change colour with just a brush of the hand so you can have two colours on the same fabric. This allows you to draw designs or simply choose which colour you would like to see. Once you have started though you cannot stop, so come into our Bridport or Yeovil shop to see for yourself!
This would be great for cushions, as a Christmas present or even a jazzy addition to a party dress.
We’re making our first appearance at the Yeovil Show. Come over and say hello and take a look at the sample of fabrics that we have brought along to show you. It’s just a taste of the massive range of stock that we hold across both our Yeovil and Bridport shops as well as our beautiful ribbopns and tapes, bindings and zips. We cater for crafters, knitters and sewers and hold a great selection of books for those of you wanting to try learning a new skill. Our staff are all sewers and knitters and will be glad to answer your questions and help you. We also make up beautifully hand sewn curtains and blinds to order from any of the furnishing fabrics you choose in our shops. We have a vast roll stock for you to choose from and give it free samples to make colour matching selection in your home easier and if you really can’t find anything there, you can browse our beautiful books and inspiring hangers and we’ll order your chosen fabric in for you. We pride ourselves on our customer service and are here to listen and do things well for you so come over and say hello if you’re at the Yeovil Show this weekend. And if you can’t make it, find us opposite The Octagon Theatre where we provide free parking, a lift and ramps to enable full access to everyone.
We thought we’d share this brilliant make with you as it raised a few smiles when Nicky, The Yeovil Store manager showed us what she’d been making from our William Morris ‘The Strawberry Thief’ fabric.
If you’d like to see the Stags Head or ask Nicky how she created it then pop into our Yeovil branch where you can see it displayed in all it’s cruelty free glory 🙂
Bunting is something that we love to make and use to decorate our shop and we use it to show our customers all kinds of gorgeous colour combinations. This week got to thinking about weddings, garden parties, rustic outdoor events and food fairs in our beautiful Dorset countryside and what could look any more rural than hessian?
This idea is so simple to do that we thought we’d share it with you. We cut out some triangles of hessian and zig zagged the edges to stop the fabric from fraying and then we simply spaced out the flags and stitched them onto a few metres of our cluny lace. Of course, you can always upcycle some old coffee sacks if you can lay your hands on them but if not, pop in and check out our different grades of hessian as they also look brilliant as trestle tablecloths finished with pure white cotton runners. In our beautiful listed mill building, we think hessian works very well with the prominent industrial elements on show.
Both of these new fabric swatch books have a beautiful range of colours that compliments our already vast range of fabric hangers and swatch books.
SHETLAND- £21.50 per metre 145cm wide
This material is the lighter of the two swatch books photographed its has a 100% polyester fabric composition, and can be washed at 30′. The fabric doesn’t feel polyester and it has a lovely soft almost brushed feel to it. It is a tight woven material and would be suitable for curtains, cushions, bedding and upholstery. This fabric book comes with a beautiful range of over 20 vibrant colours to choose from.
AOSTA- £16.70 per metre 140cm wide.
This is the heavier of the two swatch books, it has a looser more uneven weave compared to the Shetland swatch book. This material also has a composition of 100% polyester and can be washed at 40′. It is suitable for curtains, cushions, blinds, bedding and upholstery. This book also has over 20 beautiful vibrant colours to choose from.
These fabrics are on show in our shop in Bridport Dorset where you see our full range of roll stock, hanger and swatch books. We offer a curtain making service and can work out your materials requirements from your window measurement. We also offer a upholstery service so if you have an old loved chair came and talk to us and we can see what we can do.
If you would like any further help or advise on curtain materials please contact us and we will be happy to help.
We are all very excited about the beautiful Liberty printed dress fabrics we have just got in.
Each one is beautifully printed in their classical Liberty designs, with tasteful colours and patterns. We have a range of colours that will suit everyone.
Each one is priced at £13.00 per metre. These at the moment are only available to buy in our shop in Bridport Dorset. So if your around the area come and have a look at our beautiful range of Liberty prints and our range of other dress and curtaining fabrics.
New in this week – we have sourced this stunning Nina Campbell Tokelau fabric featuring amazing designs of sea creatures (mostly fish). This designer fabric has a large pattern repeat of one metre, with a straight match edge to edge. Our personal feeling was that we would not worry too much about a pattern match from one curtain to another, only if joining lengths. And there are so many other things you could do with this fabric – cut out the designs and applique to bags, cushions or even curtains. Or put a piece in a picture frame for a stunning addition to your home. This fabric normally retails at around £50 a metre, so our bargain price of only £13.50 is stunning! We only have around 20 metres of this fabric (and only this colourway) so if you want some you will have to act fast! We won’t be adding this to Ebay so if you want to buy you can telephone or email at the details on our contact page. First come, first served!
Below you can see more detail of some of the fish featured in this lovely fabric, but the photos truly don’t do it justice. The colours are stunning and the depth of the pattern has to be seen to be properly appreciated. We hope this will be only the first of other fabric designer bargains, so watch this space!
