Sewing machine servicing

We offer sewing machine servicing and repairs from qualified sewing machine engineer. Our engineers visit us about once a month in a fully-equipped mobile workshop. They will generally be able to service and carry out repairs on the day but occasionally more complex issues mean it may take longer. If this happens the engineer will always phone you before going ahead. Please make sure you give us contact details so he can reach you on the day if needed.

What will it cost?

The cost depends on the type of sewing machine. £10 of this is a non-refundable deposit paid when the machine is dropped off with us. This covers the cost of the engineer doing an initial check of the machine; if he judges it to be beyond economical repair, he will call you to talk it through, and the costs and work will stop there.

For a straightforward service or repair the balance (minus the deposit) is payable when the machine is collected from us. If any parts are needed or there are any additional costs, our engineer will again call you to discuss this before going ahead, so, there is no need to worry about an unexpected bill when you come to collect your machine.

Total repair costs including £10 deposit:

Hand machine – £69.00
Basic machine – £79.00
Over locker or computerised machine – £89.00
Advanced/embroidery machine – £95.00

Please ensure you bring a bobbin, bobbin case, machine foot and foot control along with your machine.

Reuse before recycle

If your sewing machine has seen better days, reuse before recycle! Rather than scrap it we can help redirect it to a local charity. This charity operates in some of the poorest parts of the world, working in partnership with local organisations who deliver technical and business skills. They particularly welcome donations of hand and treadle machines in working order, and you have the comfort of knowing your machine has gone on to another useful life.
