Learn to Love Your Sewing Machine: Part 1

Do you have a sewing machine, but are afraid to use it? This sewing course will enable you to use your sewing machine with confidence. Bring your own sewing machine along and learn the following:

  • Threading the machine
  • How to change the bobbin thread
  • Replacing a needle – different types of needles and what they are for
  • Differences in threads – embroidery thread, cotton thread etc…
  • Tensions – how to adjust and learn what tensions are needed for different types of fabrics
  • Stitch lengths and styles
  • Sewing machine feet – what they can do and how to change them
  • Button holes

Things to bring to the class:

  • Sewing machine to the class in full working order with the instruction manual and all of its sewing machine feet
  • Basic sewing kit to include dressmaking scissors, unpicker, bright coloured polycotton thread, pins, spare sewing machine needles, hand sewing needles, tailors chalk
  • notepad and pen to make notes

All other materials will be provided.
