At Bridport Carnival fancy dress is the order of the day. We like to join in with local events, so we thought we would mark the occasion by dressing up our dummy (affectionately known as Miss Haversham). Maxine has chosen to create a mermaid outfit using a Batik print bikini top, some dress net and our shimmery ‘Elvis’ fabric as a base.
We’ve just discovered that Bridport Carnival has been running since 1971 – the same year our business was started – so we are both celebrating our 40th birthdays this year.
If you are dressing up for this year’s carnival, why not drop into the fabric shop on St Michaels Lane in Bridport to pick up all those little items you’re likely to need? We have a wide range – from fleece and fur fabrics, buttons, ribbons and nets right through to sewing patterns for specific costumes from our Simplicity pattern book. We’re happy to help you figure out what fancy dress fabric and trimmings you might need.
